Keeping a long data-collection job stable
A small toolkit for staying polite, surviving blocks and resuming after a crash.
A working sample we built to show how we would solve a problem like this. It is not a delivered project.
In plain terms
A small toolkit for keeping a long data-collection job stable. It paces its requests politely, switches between connections, copes with blocks and verification pages, and resumes after a crash without repeating work. It was tested against a practice website built to fail on purpose.
- Slows down and retries instead of hammering a site.
- Copes with blocks and verification pages.
- Resumes after a crash without repeating work.
What this does not claim: Tested on a fake website with fake connections, plus one small and polite run on a public practice site. It is not proof of results on any real target.
Technical details
Pacing, proxy rotation, block and captcha handling, and resume-after-crash, tested against a scripted site that fails on purpose with deliberate-break tests.
- Python
- Proxy rotation
- Checkpoint / resume
