Live border wait times, collected cleanly
Reads an official live feed and saves it as a tidy table every cycle.
A working sample we built to show how we would solve a problem like this. It is not a delivered project.
In plain terms
A collector that reads the official live border-crossing wait times for two busy crossings across four lane types, and saves them as a clean table every cycle.
- Uses the official public feed, not guesses.
- Covers standard, ready, fast-pass and pedestrian lanes.
- Every sample row came straight from the live feed.
What this does not claim: A prototype, not a long-running service. The sample rows came from three back-to-back collection runs.
Technical details
Parses the public bwt.cbp.gov XML feed, filtered to San Ysidro and Otay Mesa and mapped to Standard, Ready Lane, SENTRI and Pedestrian lane types, writing a CSV of live rows over three collection cycles.
- Python
- Official CBP XML feed
